Relapse

I dislike that word, relapse. It means a set-back. It means your sick again and that your going to feel sicker as you start the detox over. This week, I relapsed…..again.

This isn’t the first time, wish I could even say it’s the third time. It’s been a two-year long struggle with detoxing. For those of you who follow the blog, you know it’s been a little silent on here as of late.

Check out other posts to hear about how we lost our house and all of our belongings two years ago. This past January, we found mold in our current house and were yet again displaced. We did manage to save the house and our belongings this time, you can read about that in other posts.

The financial drain pushed us both into getting second jobs. As if holding down one job while struggling with adrenal fatigue, fighting toxic mold in the body and remodeling a house isn’t enough on a plate.

The blog has been quiet, because frankly, I’m drained, exhausted and have had no energy to write. I’m working two jobs. I’m surviving. Those of you going through this understand how daunting even the most simple mundane things can be.

I tested free of mold this April, 2017. I still had adrenal fatigue and was still working two jobs, which isn’t helping the fatigue.

I have plans of writing about all the symptoms and explaining things in depth and helping from a scientific point of view and I will write those posts as we journey along together on this blog.

But today, I just want to share heart. I want to be present with all of you. To show you that you are not alone, that it IS tough and it’s HARD and its ok to be disheartened.

I may not have the energy to research articles and write a long complicated post today or even this week, but I can share experiences. I should share with you my daily life, to walk this journey with you.

So how did I relapse??

Well the first time was an infected gas station….we were traveling and well I had to go.

This time, was a garage sale. Remember we lost EVERYTHING we owned, with no help from insurance. It is extremely expensive to start all over and so I try to make the money stretch as far as it can and I would hit garage sales and swap shop on social media.

I bought a chair….for ten bucks…in July. I knew instantly. I reacted before I got home. I reacted after a couple of blocks… headache, light bothered my eyes, woozy feeling in the head. I drove across down as fast as I could and tossed the item in the front lawn and left it there for the trash man. I felt horrible the whole weekend and unfortunately, my doctor had just left on a two week vacation.

So I got tested last week….yep…positive for black mold. It was quick. We are talking about two blocks…in a car…with the windows down…and I relapsed.

How long will it take to come out of it? I have no idea. Last time, it took me 8 months from a 15 minute building exposure.

Why can’t my immune system fight it off? I have no idea. My husband’s can. He got over the mold and has been fine. My body however, seems to be completely helpless against it. Only time will tell if my immune system will heal like my husbands.

I guess my garage sale days are over. It’s not worth it. I will spend WAY MORE in doctor bills than if I had just bought the chair new at a store.

If you suffer from mold poisoning. Please be careful. Please be aware, that just a quick exposure can make you sick again and if you start feeling sick, you need to go get checked out again. Don’t assume that because you kicked it, that you are safe.

Also remember that it can take mold 2 weeks go grow a decent size colony. Therefore, it can take 2 weeks AFTER exposure for the mold to show up in a test.

Your health is worth it. Preserver. Just because you relapse, doesn’t mean it’s the end. You can still be healthy. It’s not starting over, it’s just a small step back. Don’t give up.
